Christmas (or Chanukah, or Solstice): family gathered for festive celebration, children awed and excited, cherished traditions carried on from generation to generation. But, as one character observes, “Sometimes Christmas gets a little out of hand,“ especially when unexpected visitors appear out of the snowy Christmas Eve night.

Jessee-Belle Owens has sorted out what matters to her now - wood chopped, livestock fed, a quite evening by the fire - and left behind the embroilments of family life and the extra work of holiday preparations. Accepting herself and what is, rather than aching for what might be, life has become simpler, easier, but... “If you throw out every blessed thing that reminds you, you may dis-remember for a while, but you still won't forget.”

And in the season of sentiment and remembrance, of light and hope, the passionate yearnings of youth re-surface to ask,“What have you done with my life?”

The past lives on, as Jessee recalls her bullying but beloved grandmother, keeper of family secrets, and the roaming cowboy whose last letter she never received. Even dreams become substance, for “Love's got to take some kind of shape.”

COME HOME FOR CHRISTMAS, JESSEE is a reminder of the cherished loves and despairs, absurdities and joys of coming home, and the constant renewal of hope that is the message of the Season.
