Spotlight on Tailgate
Alamogordo, NM-The Flickinger Center for Performing Arts is pleased to announce a partnership with the New Mexico Museum of Space History for the 15th annual Spotlight on Tailgate. This exciting summer music series will be held in the upper parking lot at the NM Museum of Space History. Featuring live locally-, regionally-, and nationally-renowned artists, Spotlight on Tailgate is scheduled to begin it's 2008 series on June 14th.
"We're really looking forward to this year's Tailgate series," said Vicki Rogers, Executive Director of the Flickinger Center. "The opportunity to partner with the museum to increase our available parking and offer the community an expanded venue is exactly what we were hoping for."
Museum Director Randall Hayes was equally as enthusiastic.
"One should never miss the chance to provide the public more and better access to the arts. It is our distinct pleasure to be a part of this and we look forward to more partnerships such as this in the future," he said.
This year, in addition to the 136 available spaces in the Level A parking area, spaces in the lower parking area just above the IMAX theater will be sold as Level B. The entertainers for each tailgate event will be on stage at the Northwest area overlooking both levels. The Patio Pavilion, previously used as the staging area, will now be available for exclusive use by corporate parties, family reunions and special events. Those interested in booking the Patio Pavilion during Tailgate are encouraged to contact the Flickinger Center well in advance of their anticipated date.
"This will be a premiere location for large groups to enjoy the evening's entertainment together, under the stars. We expect to have a waiting list so its important that groups book early," said Rogers.
Spotlight on Tailgate season passes will be sold for $140 in Level A and $120 in Level B. This pass allows your vehicle, and all who ride with you, a designated numbered parking space, premium entertainment under the stars and six evenings of beautiful southwest sunsets.
Tailgaters are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, picnic dinners and refreshments. The dates scheduled for Tailgate are: June 14th - Caladonia; June 28 - Border Dance Quintet; July 12th - Ron Helman; July 19th Footprints; August 9th Chava and August 23rd world renowned trumpeter Bobby Shew. Previous season pass holders will be given priority on renewal opportunities. Individual weekly spaces will be available for $30 each unless all season passes are sold.
