Comic Art Indigène Opening

Jason Garcia (Santa Clara Pueblo)."></td></tr></table>Santa Fe, New Mexico- On Mother's Day Sunday, May 11, 2008 beginning at 2:00 p.m. a reception hosted by the Women's Board of the Museum of New Mexico at will be held for the opening of the exhibition Comic Art Indigène.

Photograph by Addison Doty."></td></tr></table>Also opening the same day is Bare Nation, a small exhibition of sculpture in the Roland Sculpture Garden of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture created by students in their senior year at IAIA.



Opening Events for the Comic Art Indigène and Bare Nation shows include:


1:00 p.m. Event opening and blessing by IAIA Drum Group
1:15-2:15p.m. Artist Round Table and Lecture on "What is Comic Art?" by Curator Tony Chavarria
2:15-4:00 p.m. Music under the museum portal by IAIA
2:15-4:00 p.m. Classroom Hands-on Activities: Make your own super hero emblem or mask- paper cut outs and t-shirts with fabric crayons - Make a comic panel/ ledger art: "An important event in your life"
The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture/Laboratory of Anthropology is located on Museum HillT, on Camino Lejo just off Old Santa Fe Trail.
