Socorro – Martha’s Black Dog it's not. But the new Manzanares Coffeeshop has its own ambiance along with great coffee and tasty treats too.

The coffeeshop reopened in May in the space formerly occupied by Marthas Black Dog Coffeehouse (just east of the Spoke-N-Word Bicycle shop and across from the Chamber of Commerce on the plaza.)

But that's where the simiarities end. The totally remodeled and renovated space looks about twice the size with a small counter to the south which showcases the scones and other specialty treats and gelato – the Italian-named ice cream made by owner Patti Frisch. Flavors include all kinds of fruit and of course chocolate.

The coffee bar offers specialty coffees of the day (two caffeine, one decaffeinated type) and of course you can get lattes and cappuccinos as well as soft drinks.

For relaxing with your friends over coffee and snacks you can choose tables, bar stools or a comfy reading area with cushioned chairs and a couch.

In one corner is a small stage. The owners promise a variety of local acts so check often to see who is scheduled next.
The entire shop is tastefully decorated with the works of local artists including Georgette Evans Grey, Leon Miler, Jan Thomas and Margaret Middleton.

The new coffeeshop is open daily from 6 am to 10 pm. Drop by and tell ’em ‘Hi” for Steppin Out while you're enjoying a fine cup of coffee and a scone.
