Los Lunas,NM-Tomé Gallery Annual Santos and Traditional Show
Los Lunas New Mexico-Coinciding with Good Friday and the Easter season, Tomé Gallery is hosting its annual Santos and Traditional show from April 4th to April 12th. Traditional families, Santeros, produce bultos, retablos and other religious artifacts using the local woods and pigments made from minerals and clays found right here in Valencia County, passing the art form down from generation to generation. This year the show is featuring artwork from the Sanchez, Otero and Rodriguez families.
Also, the show this year is dedicated to Virginia Clark, a former Santero artist at the Tome Gallery whose straw appliqué work was well known. The Gallery will again take donations for a scholarship fund in her name.
A meet-the-artist reception is Sunday, April 5th from 2 – 4 pm at the Gallery.
