2nd Annual Railroad Days
Las Cruces, NM – The Railroad Museum continues to celebrate railroading’s past, present, and future on Saturday, May 9, 2009 from10am-4pm.
The Welcome Ceremony begins at 10am and will be followed by a performance by Sierra Middle School’s “Sierra Soundsations.”
Speakers include: Dara Parker (Field Representative, Office of US Senator Jeff Bingaman; Ed Kellum (Field Representative, Office of US Senator Tom Udall); US Congressman Harry Teague; NM Representative Jeff Steinborn; Mayor Ken Miyagishima; City Manager Terrence Moore; City Councilor Miguel Silva(District 1); Frank Guzman (NMDOT District 1, District Engineer); and Lawrence Rael (Executive Director, Mid-Region Council of Governments.)
Musical entertainment is scheduled throughout the day. Visit with Harvey Girl reenactors from the Railroad and Transportation Museum of El Paso and take a look at the model train layouts. A stationary New Mexico Rail Runner Express commuter train and a modern Burlington Northern Santa Fe diesel engine will be available for walk-on tours.
The Museum is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. The event is free and open to the public. The Railroad Museum is located at 351 N. Mesilla Street (at Las Cruces Ave.). For information, please see http://museums.las-cruces.org or call 575-647-4480.
