The Arroyo Series by Dave Barnett
'Old Dude doing daily what he loves to do'

Truth or Consequences, NM – Eduardo Alicea, Director of RioBravoFineArt, Inc. Presents: a collection of recent work by Dave Barnett, “THE ARROYO SERIES”.
The show embraces Barnett’s encounters with various plants and the patterns they exhibit. Barnett’s urges the viewer not to seek out any big message; there is no symbolic or social statement inherent within the works. There's no huge hammer-to-the-head rendition of the picturesque. The works are not of a spiritual nature, unless it is considered that he takes great joy in celebrating and being a part of the Creation.
He considers himself as an old dude doing daily what he loves to do, which is "to lay down in the language of paint my reactions to nature and the pursuit of the quality of unity, that elusive element so eloquently addressed by the likes of Piero to Pollock, Cezanne to De Kooning, Courbet to Kline."
Dave Barnett does not do studies for the pieces, because the works are studies within themselves. There is a learning process that happens as the work progresses and the painting tells him what it needs. The seeming complexity of the work is illusory and exists only in the visual sense.
The actual process is really quite simple, though labor-intensive, thus adding up to the final result. Barnett thanks you for coming to the show and hopes you enjoy it. Welcome to meet the artist on opening night with a reception from 6 - 9 pm Saturday 9 May 2009. Show ends Sunday 7 June 2009 at 110 N. Broadway Truth or Consequences, NM 87901.
