Library Bear Painting Donated to Library
Ruidoso, NM – Anita Keegan of Ruidoso painted “Library Bear” especially for the Ruidoso Public Library and then gifted it to both the library and the Friends of the Library. Josie Powell with Josie’s Framery in Ruidoso donated the framing of the painting.

A reception for the viewing of Anita Keegan’s painting “Library Bear” was set for Tuesday, May 12 at the Ruidoso Public Library with Keegan, Powell, the Friends of the Library Board and all of the Ruidoso Public Library staff present at the reception.
In the future, the Friends will have prints of “Library Bear” available for purchase in the Friends Bookstore, located in the front lobby of the Ruidoso Public Library. All monies from the sale of the prints will go to the Friend’s non-profit library fund.

A deep respect and love for the natural world is incorporated into her paintings. Keegan learned to paint scenes of the surrounding landscapes and its wildlife with classes from Lorene Caywood of Capitan and also various workshops throughout the U.S. She professes to be an avid reader and therefore retains her special love for libraries from her childhood. Her first library-themed painting was donated to the volunteer Capitan Library.
