Screenwriting in New Mexico
Santa Fe – One of the best-kept secrets in Hollywood is that the best screenwriting conference in the world is in Santa Fe! Held once a year for the past eleven years, it convenes once again for six-days at the end of May.
Extraordinarily well-conceived, the Screenwriting Conference in Santa Fe is a brilliantly dynamic, smart and effective venue for screenwriters and professionals to come together and interact meaningfully. Larry Stouffer is the architect and the result is a mastermind of top-tier professionals, extremely committed writers, massively valuable learning and relationships.
— Gary Goldstein - Producer, Pretty Woman
SCSFe is a well-orchestrated week of extraordinary learning and selling opportunities. Divided into two components, the conference goes from teaching the art and craft of writing a screenplay (The Screenwriting Symposium component) to focusing on the business aspects of screenwriting by learning to master the 5-minute pitch to navigating the Hollywood producer/agent/manager scene (The Hollywood Connection component).
Screenwriting teachers (Mentors) hold 9-hour classes. All the Mentors have recognizable credits and a common bond; they love to teach. Classes range from beginning-emerging screenwriting through intermediate and up to their elite advanced 12-hour screenwriting Labs.
Afternoons at SCSFe are devoted to several dozen 90-minute seminars that go to specific elements of the screenwriting craft. In addition there are Mentor and Producer panels, script consultations, a screenwriting competition, and two social events.
Although SCSFe rarely exceeds 200 attendees and instructors, writers come from all over America as well as foreign countries.
Whether you’re in New Mexico or Hollywood or any other place in the world, if you want to produce a successful film it’s a must that you start with a great screenplay. This year’s dates are the 26th through the 31st of May. For more information call 505.424.1501 or go to their www.scsfe.com website.
