Main Street is the third local gallery to be opened by businessman and art collector Sid Bryan in just over a year.
The first gallery, When, opened to the public in June of 2005. Exhibits at When usually feature 1-3 artists, and occur every 6-8 weeks. Past shows have included photographs by Jim Heese, paintings by David Farrell, and mixed media miniatures by Crockett Bodelson.
Sid’s second gallery, called Grapes, opened in September of ’05 and offers gift items as well as original art from Sierra County, California, and Holland.Artists showing at Grapes include Nolan and R. Wm. Winkler, Bonita Barlow, Terry Allen, Ezell Nolan, and Jeff Barbour.
Ruanna Waldrum, manager of all three galleries, invited local artists to interpret the theme for Main Street’s first exhibit as they saw fit. Waldrum says “there’ll probably be every shade of blue imaginable in the show, but I’m hoping for some less obvious interpretations, too.”Participating artists include Bonita Barlow, K. Alexander Merklein, Andrew Martinez, R. Wm. Winkler, David Farrell, Josh Frankel, Danielle Lesniewski, and Nolan Winkler.
An opening reception for SUMMERTIME BLUES will be held from 6-9 pm on July 8, during Truth or Consequences’ Downtown Gallery Hop, which occurs on the second Saturday of every month.
