Socorro County Arts Hosts Art Fair

Socorro, NM - July 18: Socorro County Arts will host an Art Fair on Saturday, July 22, from Noon to 6:00 p.m. The Art Fair will be held in the courtyard at the Finley Gym Complex on McCutcheon Street in Socorro. Finley Gym sits directly across from the Socorro Police Station. The Fair is the first arts event hosted by Socorro County Arts since they opened their new gallery in the Finley complex in May, 2006.

Socorro County Arts is located at the back side of the Finley Gym complex, on Center Street directly across from the Socorro Police Station. Entrance to the Finley Gym Courtyard should be available through the Socorro County Arts Gallery. Entrance to the gallery is on the south side of the complex. Parking is available in the lot on Center Street.
Participation in this first-of-its-kind Art Fair is open to all artists, artisans and craftsmen who live or create art in Socorro County regardless of media or creative techniques used. Members of the Socorro County Arts group and participants in the Art Fair come from throughout the county. Registration for the Art Fair is still open and costs just $5 for Socorro County Arts members or $10 for non-members. Table space will be provided for all participants. Artists and artisans interested in participating in the fair can register up until Friday, July 21, by contacting Socorro County Arts at 835-4641. Application for membership in Socorro County Arts can be obtained at their gallery on Center St or it can be downloaded from the group's website at: www.SocorroCountyArts.com (http://www.socorrocountyarts.com/)
Socorro County Arts is a loosely affiliated group of artists, artisans and craftsmen from throughout Socorro County who wish to promote the arts, artists and artisans in the county. The medias used by members are as wide-ranging and diverse as the members themselves. Membership is open to all artists, artisans and craftsmen from Socorro County. Sponsor memberships are also offered to local businesses and organizations who wish to support the group and help promote the arts in the county. According to their web site, sponsors and supporters of the group include the City of Socorro, Socorro Chamber of Commerce, Walmart Stores and Steppin' Out New Mexico.
The Art Fair already promises to be a very interesting event. It will include at least 10 creative artists and artisans who work in various media.
