The organizers of the Deming Duck Race have asked Steppin' Out to help get the word out that they are still seeking New Mexico bands, dance troupes, singers, DJ's and other performing artists to help fill their entertainment list on the weekend of the Deming Duck Race which is August 24-27, 2006. They are especially interested in filling a few remaining slots on Sunday, August 27th.
We understand there are just a few slots left and performers and entertainers who participate in this event are almost all volunteers. So, you probably won't be getting paid to appear and we're not sure they can help with expenses. They did tell us groups who perform are welcome to put out a tip jar or pass the hat to help cover expenses. Still, appearing at this popular August event should provide some great fun for the performers involved plus good public exposure and PR opportunities too. Heck, there may even be major network news teams there. It wouldn't be the FIRST time that's happened! So, plan to wear your costumes all day and make yourselves real VISIBLE! You never know what might happen if you do.
