Socorro - Platt Laboratories of Socorro recently announced they have completed work on a new video entitled "Rock This Town" which was filmed live at the Julie Cottom School of Dance annual recital back in June. The full program includes 40 performances by the 80 students at Julie Cottom's school and runs nearly 3 hours.
According to Greg Platt, owner of the production company, the video contains many delightful performances and humorous moments. "It's a lot of fun to watch," he stated, "and it was fun to produce too. So far, our feedback from everyone who has seen the video has been overwhelmingly positive."
Platt went on to explain that this video is the first production of this length recorded, edited, produced and manufactured solely by his company. "I've done private video production work and R&D on a part time basis for several years. In fact, we produced a music video last spring. But acquiring the equipment, technology and know how to do this is much harder than it seems," he claims. "The Cottom video, for example, required over 300 hours of very hard work to produce."
"We hope to be doing many more video production projects of this type in the future," he explained.
In fact, Platt Labs now offers its videography and photography services to individuals, businesses, and arts and entertainment event planners and coordinators in Socorro and throughout central New Mexico. Everything from wedding videos to birthday parties and arts events to corporate training videos is on their targeted project list.
"We are creative about how we price and produce these projects. Furthermore we can do this much cheaper than folks in Albuquerque can." he concluded.
The two DVD or VHS tape set includes solo and group dance performances featuring the dancing skills of nearly 80 children and teen dancers. Platt believes it will be a perfect Christmas gift for quite a few grandmas this year.
Platt has made several samples of performances from the "Rock This Town" video available for viewing here on the Steppin Out web site. Readers will find them in the Julie Cottom School of Dance 'Rock This Town' Video Gallery (http://www.steppinoutnewmexico.com/pp-514/showgallery.php?cat=512) in Steppin' Out's Gallery Section (http://www.steppinoutnewmexico.com/pp-514/index.php).
