Hallow Spirits Haunted Studio Fundraiser
October 29th 2005 5pm-Midnight

This one night fundraising event features a selected showing of highly aesthetic and possibly gruesome artwork, intoxicating live music by Unidentified Floating Humans, and an encore performance by Fire Hazard of Santa Fe, as well as glass art demonstrations and collaborative projects.
The evening show, will be an intensity of celebration for the opening of Studio Broadway's attraction, galley, and gift shop, Curioso Obscura. The festivity is set under the misty moon of October magic so come dressed for fun and ready to enjoy games and prizes, a silent art auction, the Amazing Automaton Arcade, flaming performances, and more! Accepting artistic submissions until 5pm October 20th. Seeking work in the flat and three dimensional with possible disturbing or dark over tones. If you are a performer or interested in contributing to this event, please call. Studio Broadway (505) 842-8446

Now we will layout, for you, why we are so excited about this and similar events and what we are planning and drafting for the near future. To introduce Studio Broadway to those of you, who might be unfamiliar: Studio Broadway is the collective "heart child" of a creative and appreciative group of Albuquerque artists, students, mentors, humanitarians, and community members. Its function is to serve the South Broadway and University community as an arts education resource. The studio is host to workshops, lectures, classes, and exhibits focusing on an array of multi media processes, and offers opportunities for the artistic to gain experience while amidst a rapid exchange of ideas, techniques, and motives.
Studio Broadway acts as a circuit for youth, teens, and artists to connect into the global community of creativity, art, and expression that thrives so strongly in the Southwest. Our location in the South Broadway Neighborhood is ideal and we look forward to opening our doors to our community and assisting in the renovation and re-beautification of the area. We also hope to have some impact on the surrounding youth by encouraging aspirations, dreams, and creativity while offering after school programs and volunteer/work study opportunities. In support of University art students during the transition from student to working artist, Studio Broadway also offers workshop space, group exhibit space, residency programs, and the promotion of self-promotion.
And this self-promotion is reason for our celebration of Curioso Obscura, attraction, gallery, and gift shop, where in our artists and students are welcome to display their treasured works of art to Albuquerque's curios public. This festivity is, for us, joyous in the idea of instigating the growth of Studio Broadway into an energetic community center. We are currently seeking the funds to secure and renovate the building and prepare our workspaces to support the community involvement we are hoping to see. We are not too far from our goal to see it and we are gratefully determined to chase our dreams till we catch up to and surpass them. If you are aware of avenues for growth and support, of if you are enticed to involve yourself with this great affair, please respond! For it is you, our neighbor, whom we wish to collaborate with!
