By Socorro Reporter © 2006 Reprint Permission Granted
Socorro – July 31, 2006: The Enchanted Skies Star Party offers several exciting features, including a unique opportunity for a night of observing at an elevation of 10,000 feet. The annaul event will continue its decade-long tradition of presenting outstanding lectures by leading professional and amateur astronomers, and of course, we’ll once again gather at Socorro County’s Pound Ranch for a night of great food, Southwestern entertainment and excellent, dark-sky observing.

The Enchanted Skies Star Party promises to be one of the premier astronomical highlights of the year. We know you’ll want to share this excitement with your friends, so we’re also offering attractive club and school rates for groups of five or more.
Featured speaker this year is Dr. Larry Crumpler . He is Research Curator, Volcanology & Space Science, for the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, and a member of the Science Team for NASA’s Mars Exploration Rovers. In addition to the Mars Exploration Rovers, he has participated in other NASA planetary missions, including Viking, Pathfinder, and the Magellan synthetic aperture radar mapping mission to Venus.
