San Antonio – Coffee and art – two of the best things in life. Now they are available together along a favorite stretch of Scenic Hiway 380 and just minutes away from some of the best bird watching habitat in the world.
The new coffee shop and gallery just west of Manny’s Buckhorn Café is called Pentimente, and features a delightfully light and cheery room with a bit of sitting space and some great viewing of art from area artists including Georgette Gray, Margi Lucena, Susan Bellows and San Antonio artist Brazillia. The custom cedar furniture by Melvin Paul of Datil is exquisitely formed, while details in the brick and lighting add to an elegant atmosphere.
Owner Kristie Chadwick got the idea for Pentimento after selling her sister’s jewelry outdoors during a recent Festival of the Cranes. Experience Jewels, sterling silver jewelry designed by Linette DeSano (a major sponsor of the store) is featured near the coffee counter where patrons may order a cup of specialty coffee, latte or cappuccino and a selection of treats from the dessert counter including biscochitos and cannolis, bons bons and other sweets, many supplied by a local bakery.
Kristie plans to open at 7 am so you can get that cup of java early in the morning. And during the November Festival of the Cranes, she’ll be open at 5 pm to allow festival goers a chance to grab a nice, hot cup before venturing down to the Bosque del Apache for the sunrise experience.
Visit her or call her at 418-8384. Tell her Steppin’ Out sent you, okay?
But what does Pentimente mean? Post your reply. If you can define the word, we'll send you a coupon for a free cup of coffee at this Pentimente, at San Antonio. And be sure to drop into the store; tell them Steppin' Out sent you. Or call for more information, 418-8384
