The Studiospace and Gallery in October
The StudioSpace and Gallery at 109 N. Bullard St, in Silver City is proud to announce a full slate of activities for The Weekend at The Galleries and the rest of October.
We have reached the final days of BUENOS AIRES: RED, BLANCO Y NEGRO, an exhibit of The Photographic Work of Carmen Ruiz that includes manipulated black and white photographs of her native Buenos Aires as well as a series of hand done Polaroid transfer prints entitled "Tango". The full show will remain on display until October 11 with a closing reception on October 6th from 6-9 p.m.
Opening October 12th is an exhibit of oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings by Tyrone resident Setta Smith Roberts whose imagery ranges from local architecture and still lives to the rocky seashore or rustic elegance of an old barn in autumn. Setta’s show will run from October 12- Nov. 15 with an Opening Reception on Friday October 13th from 6-9 p.m.
On October 7th, from 7-9:30 p.m. The StudioSpace presented WORDS AND WORK: readings and performance, a celebration of and homage to the written word. This event ws the first in a series and featured the original work of area writers along with several readings and/or performances by Silver City actors. The program included poetry, fiction, memoir, and two short staged readings…one of the short story Spikey by Sterling Bothroyd, the second a portion of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen adapted for reader’s theatre by Jane D.Wallen. Donations to the series will be accepted (but not required!) at the door and the evening is open to the public.
