Not Your Basic Square Quilts!
Fire Water Lodge Gallery, 311 Broadway, Truth or Consequences, is pleased to present BeaDazzling Quilts by Rebecca Speakes November 3 - 30, 2005. On display are wall-hanging quilts designed and created by local fiber artist Rebecca Speakes. Included in the display are large diptych quilts (pairs) and heavily embellished mini-quilts. All of the quilts are hand-quilted. Embellishments include foil-stamping for sparkle, beads, shells, copper wire, colorful cording, gold mesh fabric and found objects.
Originally a graphic designer, Rebecca employs graphic design techniques in her work. Each quilt is individually designed using bold sparkly colors and unusual geometric shapes. Fanciful shapes of rockets, trees, waves are reminiscent in her art quilts.
An Artist's Reception is scheduled for Saturday, November 12th at 5:30 - 8:00 pm during the monthly Gallery Hop in downtown Truth or Consequences.
Rebecca's fiber art can be seen locally at Casita de Guadalupe, 417 Broadway and Coffee Tea or C, 411 Main Street.
