Crimson Sunset
by Jerry Goffe, Albuquerque

October - November 2004

Albuquerque – Photography has been Jerry Goffe’s professional career and personal passion for over 35 years. His photograph  Crimson Sunset graces our cover this issue.

His evolution into this career began in architectural and then commercial photography.

His photographs have appeared in Sunset Magazine, Architectural Forum, AIA Journal, Smithsonian Magazine, Strad Magazine and National Geographic.

A couple decades ago, Jerry’s career went from Illustrative photography into legal evidence documentation. This technically challenging and creative specialization of photography paved the way to his current passion: nature photography.

While traveling throughout Alaska, Jerry was inspired to use his camera, experience and creativity to record images of wilderness birds, sea life and four-legged creatures. He returns every summer to do volunteer photography for non-profit agencies such as the Alaska Rapture Rehabilitation Center in Sitka.

Bringing this appreciation for nature and love of animals closer to home, Jerry is a volunteer, guide and photo instructor at Bosque del Apache NWR. Jerry hones his skills photographing the wide variety of birds that perch in trees, rest in the water, feed or soar gracefully in the clear blue New Mexico skies.
