Ruidoso, NM: In its 11th year, the Ruidoso Art Loop® has expanded in every way: more artists, new events, wider area coverage, more types of media, new signage, improved brochures, and additional goals.
Formed in 1996 to promote art education and awareness of the high quality of arts in scenic Lincoln County, New Mexico, through an annual studio tour featuring professional artists and attracting a regional audience, Art Loop® has this year expanded its activities. The additional activities added are a reception and art auction as a fund raiser for an art scholarship and support of Art Loop®, and an art opening and month long pre-show for the month of June to promote local art beyond the dates of the weekend studio tour in July.
The traditional Art Loop® Studio Tour will be held on July 7, 8 & 9th, 2006, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Artists on the tour will give talks or demonstrations in their media. You will experience the artists’ environment and be able to purchase artwork directly from the artists.
Driving maps and brochures will be available from the Ruidoso Chamber of Commerce, the Ruidoso Regional Council for the Arts, other regional tourist centers, lodging centers, and various sponsors. The brochures can be used as a year-round reference for contacting artists by appointment. Additional information can be found year-round at the Art Loop® website:
www.artloop.org. Colorful directional signs will be posted along the way and large colorful banners will be flown at each studio. Due to insurance requirements, guests are requested not to bring pets.

To insure the high quality of the art, and in order to be taken seriously by the art community as well as future patrons and sponsors, Art Loop® was founded and continues as a juried event. This year the call for artists was enlarged to include professional artists with working studios in all of Lincoln County. Twenty-seven artists have been accepted for this year’s tour, and will included the following media: Painting, Fiber Arts & Art Quilts, Jewelry, Metal Art, Woodworking, Masks, Art Dolls, Ceramics, Sculpture, Storybeads, Art Glass, Sandstone Painting, Basketry, and China Painting.
Leading up to the tour will be: a live art auction as a fund raiser for an art scholarship and support of Art Loop®, participation by Art Loop® in the July 4 Capitan parade, and an opening reception and month long show for the month of June.
The theme of the live art auction fundraiser is “Would You Could You With This Box?”, to be held May 27, 2006, 6 p.m. at the Cree Meadows Country Club Clubhouse, in Ruidoso. The artwork to be auctioned will be donated by regional artists incorporating a 12 by 12 inch box. A portion of the proceeds is to support a scholarship fund for a graduating senior in Lincoln County to study fine art or performing art, and the balance for the support of Art Loop® Association. Entertainment will include live music, hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and live auction conducted by a professional auctioneer. Sponsors will be recognized. Admission is free and the public is invited.
On June 2, 2006, 5 to 7 p.m. an opening reception for an Art Show featuring sample works by artists will be held at the Ruidoso Village Hall and the Ruidoso Public Library, both on Cree Meadows Drive in Ruidoso, NM. Admission is free and the public is invited. The show will remain open during normal business hours of each facility through the end of June. Interested customers may contact the artists directly. On July 4, 2006, members of will appear in the Capitan 4th of July parade. It remains to be seen whether there will be a repeat appearance by Art Loop®’s prize-winning Chinese dragon, or if Capitan artist Jeannie Adams, chair of the parade committee has something else up the sleeve of her kimono.
Art Loop® Association thanks its past customers and invites all, new and old to explore Lincoln County’s vibrant art scene and to enjoy some or all of 2006's events. Spend a pleasurable weekend at one or our many lovely B&B’s, hotels, or motels, or hook up at an area campsite. Art Loop® Association also thanks its sponsors for their support over the past 11 years, without which Art Loop® would not be possible, and requests its customers to support our generous sponsors. Art Loop® Association also expresses its gratitude to the generous support of the Lincoln County Lodgers Tax and Village of Ruidoso Lodgers Tax committees.
The 2007 Art Loop® Tour will be held July 6, 7 & 8th, 2007. Mark your calendars and make your reservations early!
