Default Even Santa Buys Local

Unique gifts, unique setting
in Hillsboro, New Mexico

Hillsboro, NM, - Percha Creek Traders presents “Even Santa Buys Local”, a special exhibit featuring dozens of discounted prices on holiday gifts designed to entice visitors to buy one-of-a-kind gifts that also support the local economy.
Percha Creek Traders is an arts and crafts cooperative in picturesque Hillsboro. The 7-room shop in a downtown historical building is renowned for high-quality ceramics, quilts and fiber arts, paintings, photography, apparel, jewelry, natural soaps and cosmetics, and furniture. The shop also offers the work of local authors and filmmakers. Most artist members have produced new items with holiday themes, including nativity scenes, wreaths, Christmas potholders, greeting cards, and more, and selected items throughout the store that are marked with special tags have been discounted especially for the show.
Come for Hillboro’s annual Christmas celebration, Christmas in the Foothills, on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A “Kids-only Christmas Market”, for kids 12 and under, an exciting array of vendors selling specialty gifts in the Hillsboro Community Center, and the ever-popular $49.99 Art Show and Sale. Clydesdale horses will transport visitors through town between the Hillsboro Community Center and Main Street merchants. Musicians and singers will provide seasonal and regional accompaniment to the festivities, and free hot cider and hot chocolate will be available along Main Street.
One-dollar tickets can be purchased for a chance to win the original framed gouache painting, Cozy Christmas Quail by Percha Creek Traders artist Jane Dobrott, which has been reproduced as the Christmas in the Foothills 2008 poster. Signed posters will be available for purchase at $25 each.
Percha Creek Traders is located on Hillsboro’s historic district’s Main Street, State Highway 152, approximately 18 miles west of exit 63 on I-25, south of Truth or Consequences. From Silver City take Highway 152 east 57 miles to Hillsboro. It is open Wednesdays to Sundays, 10 am to 4 pm.
